The recessive lethality associated with three P insertion chromosomes does not map to the site of the P insertion based on complementation with deletions that remove the region of the insertion.
P{lacW}l(2)k09116k09116 was viable in combination with Df(2L)Exel7048 and Df(2L)BSC212.
P{lacW}l(2)k03906ak03906a was viable in combination with Df(2L)Exel7048 and Df(2L)BSC144. The insertion was mapped to 31F1-2 by in situ hybridization, but it was never sequence mapped. The two deletions together span 31B1 to 31F5.
P{lacW}l(2)k13305k13305 was viable in combination with Df(2L)BSC689 and Df(2L)BSC251. No homozygous flies are seen in stock, but flies carrying the P insertion and one of these deletions have outspread wings and are uncoordinated. They get stuck in the food shortly after eclosion, so attempts to test female fertility were not successful.
