The following information accompanied stocks donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by Kathy Miller, Washington University in St. Louis. TER94Z2-4714 and Pif1AZ3-5009 are male sterile mutations from the Zuker Collection (Koundakjian et al. 2004; FBrf0179036). TER94Z2-4714 causes a P167L substitution in the TER94 protein. Spermatid nuclei do not condense properly and spermatid individualization is defective. Pif1AZ3-5009 decreases Pif1A expression. The mutation is localized 45 nucleotides downstream of the stop codon of Pif1A RI transcript. Males are defective in spermatid individualization.
