The following information accompanied stocks donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by Jason Morris, Fordham University. Mutations in the fried complementation group were mapped to the region of CG31320 using overlapping deletions and duplications, and they were shown to fail to complement CG3132027 (FBal0299642) for lethality. The sequencing of fried150 and fried212 revealed mutations in the CG31320 open reading frame. Diggle et al. (2014; FBrf0226276) documented that CG31320 is the fly homolog of the mammalian HEATR2 gene. Dynein Axonemal Assembly Factor 5 (DNAAF5) is the name for HEATR2 that is preferred by the Human Gene Nomenclature Committee and is the name used in most mammalian species. TI{TI}Dnaaf5V5 was generated by CRISPR-induced incision immediately 5' to the stop sequence of the Dnaaf5 gene and repair in the presence of a V5-stop-loxP-dsRed-loxP donor construct followed by removal of the loxP-dsRed-loxP cassette by Cre-mediated recombination. The insertion results in the expression of Dnaaf5 protein with a C-terminal V5 tag under the control of fried regulatory sequences. P{UAS-Dnaaf5.V5} is a pUASt construct expressing Dnaaf5 protein with a C-terminal V5 tag under UAS control. P{UAS-Dnaaf5.V5}3 is a third chromosome insertion.
