The Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center has identified l(3)CHh1 (FBal0195781) as an allele of the dysf gene. l(3)CHh is group 10 in Jiang and Crews, 2006 (FBrf0193980, see also FBrf0199131). l(3)CHh1 is homozygous lethal and fails to complement Df(3R)Exel6204 (also shown by Jiang and Crews, 2006, FBrf0193980; RRID:BDSC_7683), dysf2 (RRID:BDSC_9590) and dysf3 (RRID:BDSC_9591). Whole genome sequencing reveals the following amino acid changes in the dysf gene: l(3)CHh1 = dysfCHh1, dysf-RB R129C (CGC->TGC); dysf-RC and dysf-RD R165C We note that l(3)CHh1 was originally designated as complementation group 10 in Jiang and Crews (see FBrf0199131) and that a different group (group 3) was identified as dysf. In our hands, l(3)CHh1 fails to complement two members of group 3 (dysf2 and dysf3), strongly suggesting they are members of the same group.
