Comments

Many people consider "gypsy" to be a pejorative term. "mdg4-8" is the most appropriate synonym to use for this transposon if one wishes to avoid "gypsy8". The "gypsy" name has been retained by FlyBase as efforts are made to change the transposon family name across all eukaryotes.

The CG16937 gene has been deleted as the ORF corresponds to the gypsy8 element gypsy8{}2354.

Annotation CG32231 eliminated in release 5.1 of the genome annotation.

New annotation (CG32013) in release 3 of the genome annotation. New annotation (CG32231) in release 3 of the genome annotation.

The withdrawn annotation CG41430 corresponded to an insertion of the gypsy8 transposable element.

The withdrawn annotation CG40497 corresponded to an insertion of the gypsy8 transposable element.
