Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.
A set of mutant stocks derived by insertional mutagenesis using the P-element construct P{lacW}; most lines have a lethal or sterile phenotype. The P{lacW} construct carries a w+mC mini-white visible marker, Ecol\lacZ enhancer trap sequences, and bacterial sequences that allow plasmid rescue (FBrf0049800).
The insertion site is reported to be at -24 relative to the Cyt-b5 translation start site.
l(2)k00107
Location 2R:3045365-3045366 determined by FlyBase alignment of dbGSS accession AQ025678 to D. melanogaster arm Release_4 and heterochromatin Release_3.2b. Insertion orientation revised.
The P{lacW}l(2)k00107k00107 insertion maps 36bp upstream of the 5\' end of the CT6982 transcript of Cyt-b5.
This insertion was listed in the BDGP database as a lethal or sterile line during the period 1994-1999, but was not verified as such prior to the summary publication (FBrf0111489). Reasons for excluding lines from the collection described in FBrf0111489 include presence of more than one P insertion on the mutant chromosome, separation of lethality (or sterility) from the location of the insertion, and loss of lethality (or sterility) from the stock.
