The P{lab-lacZ.1:550.mHMG}UbcD1022 insertion is within the UbcD10 transcription unit, but Ecol\lacZ expression from the insertion in the tracheal system does not reflect UbcD10 expression, but rather reflects the expression of the aft gene (the P{lab-lacZ.1:550.mHMG}UbcD1022 insertion is 0.8kb downstream of the 3\' end of aft). (Note also that Ecol\lacZ expression also occurs in the central midgut endoderm due to the presence of the lab enhancer in the P{lab-lacZ.1:550.mHMG} transgene).
