Description

Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.

A set of transgenic insertion stocks derived by TE mobilization using the P-element construct P{EPg}. The P{EPg} construct carries the mini-white marker w+mC, and Scer\UAS binding sites for the Scer\GAL4 transcriptional regulator (FBrf0128569). The GAL4-UAS system allows regulated expression of genes proximate to the site of the insertion: genes properly oriented with respect to the Scer\UAS sequences can be conditionally expressed via transgene-derived Scer\GAL4 activity.

Comments concerning location

The flanking sequence deposited in GenBank by Staudt et al. (2005) for the HP10053 insertion line (AM270610) aligns equally well to two locations in the release 5 genome: X:3693203 (minus strand) and X:3684098 (minus strand). The location specified is that of the genomic sequence nucleotide that aligns with the 5' end of the flanking sequence. The GenBank records do not specify the position of the insertion within the flanking sequence so there is ambiguity in the insertion position.
