A set of transgenic insertion stocks derived by TE mobilization using the P-element construct P{GT1}. The P{GT1} construct is described as a dual-tagged gene trap (FBrf0132344):it carries (1) w+mGT1 mini-white marker, designed to confer a pigmented eye phenotype only if the construct is inserted within a host gene, and (2) a promoter-less Scer\GAL4 gene which is expressed if it is produced as a fusion with the mRNA produced by the host gene. The construct also carries a Tn\neoR selectable marker (FBrf0132344).
ScerGAL4CkIIα-i3-BG00973b drives expression in neurons associated with olfactory sensory organs of the second and third antennal segments, maxillary palp, mouthparts, and legs; brain expression is not observed.
Southern analysis indicates that there are multiple P{GT1} insertions in this line; 3' RACE supports insertion into CkIIα-i3 gene.
Southern blots indicate the presence of two insertions in the original BG00973 line. Further analysis by PCR confirms the presence of two insertions: P{GT1}BG00973a and P{GT1}CkIIα-i3BG00973b.
