Staining is observed in a single group of cells in the olfactory region of each brain lobe in second instar larvae and as two distinct clusters by third instar. Expression is present in moderately distributed cells in the central brain, outer optic anlagen, subesophageal ganglion, and the anterior abdominal neuromeres of the ventral ganglion. Expression observed at the interhemispheric junction and in the suboesophageal ganglion in third instar larvae. Expression is observed at the second instar larval stage in a pair of compact clusters of cells in the mushroom body region. By third instar, these are demarcated into two distinct groups.
