Tag:CAAX(hNRAS) represents a CAAX prenylation motif (CVVM) derived from the Homo sapiens NRAS gene (HGNC:7989), where the palmitoylation sequence normally found associated with this motif in NRAS is either not present or has been mutated so that it is non-functional. When fused to the C-terminal end of a protein of interest, Tag:CAAX(hNRAS) results in the tagged protein being targeted to the endomembrane system (PMID:16990811, PMID:10412982).
