BoNT-B-LC corresponds to the light chain of Clostridium botulinum neurotoxin type B. BoNT-B-LC can be used as a tool to inhibit neuron activity; it is an endopeptidase that selectively cleaves VAMP (vesicle-associated membrane protein), resulting in synaptic vesicles that cannot undergo the normal cycle of exocytosis and endocytosis and preventing neurotransmitter release (reviewed in PMID:15979165).
