Sequence encoding the C2 domain from Bos taurus MFGE8 lactadherin (encoded by the MFGE8 gene, VGNC:31426). This domain binds specifically to phosphatidylserine (PMID:18187657). It can thus be used to monitor the distribution of phosphatidylserine within a cell, if fused to an appropriate reporter protein, or to target a tagged protein to a particular subcellular localization via phosphatidylserine binding.
