Yp2 transcription unit including 342bp of its upstream DNA. A fragment of bacteriophage M13 DNA has been inserted into the transcription unit to allow the transcript produced by this construct to be distinguished from endogenous Yp1 transcripts.

Female-specific expression of Yp2 is retained with 342 bp of 5' sequence. Transcript is detected only in adults. Northern blots of RNA from hand-dissected female tissues shows M13 expression to be localized to ovaries.
