Tn9CAT expression is regulated by a Rh3 promoter fragment from -343bp to +18bp that carries the Rh3 rhodopsin core sequence I (RCSI) mutated to resemble that of Rh4. The adjacent 3' hexanucleotide is also mutated to resemble the Rh4 RCS II.
