A gsb genomic gsb fragment that includes 10.0kb of upstream sequence, the promoter and transcribed 5' sequence up to the end of the paired-box is fused upstream of lacZ.

lacZ gene expression is driven by a fragment extending from within the gsb promoter region (including the enhancer element for both gsb and gsb-n) to the second exon of gsb.
