When as little as 0.25 kb of sequenceimmediately upstream of sna is deleted in a sna-promoter driven EcollacZconstuct, reporter expression is abolished in the PNS and CNS, andseverely reduced in the mesoderm. This suggests that an augmentationelement resides within the 0.25 kb segment.
