When dl binding sites 5and 10 are deleted from the ventral activation element (VA) (-1.6 to 1.0 kb) of thesna promoter, EcollacZ expression is not significantly affected compared to expression driven byan unmodified VA element. Expression is detected in the ventralmost of the embryonic cycle 14 embryo.
