zen upstream region deleted between coordinates -1.2kb and -0.82kb drives EcollacZ expression in a "dorsal-on/ventral-off" pattern resembling wild type zen expression. Expression is detected in embryonic cycle 14, dorsally and extending into the anterior and posterior poles.
