Description

Transgenic construct used in a study to test the ability of insulator or boundary elements to block repression of a target gene by a Polycomb response element (PRE). A 436bp BalI-BstXI fragment from the gypsy\su(Hw)BR (containing 12 su(Hw) protein binding sites) and a 661bp NdeI-PstI fragment containing the core activity of the major Ubx Polycomb response element (PRE, located approximately 24kb upstream of the Ubx promoter) are fused upstream of the w+mC gene. The sequences are in the order gypsy\su(Hw)BR - PRE - w+mC.
