A 428bp EcoRI-Asp718 so genomic fragment (from an intron) is fused upstream of a truncated Hsp70 promoter driving expression of a lacZ reporter.

A 400bp region of so, containing ey/toy- and toy-specific binding sites, located in between exons 6 and 7 of the so coding sequence, is cloned upstream of a lacZ reporter.
