Description

Transgenic construct generated by replacing the Hsp70 promoter in P{FRT(X96)} with the natural w promoter (300bp of w 5' flanking DNA is present). Direct FRT sites flank a rearranged w reporter gene that is non-functional; the 3' portion of w upstream is placed upstream of the 5' portion (including w promoter). The construct also carries a v+t1.8 marker outside of the FRT sites. In the presence of FLP recombinase, the w sequence is excised onto an extrachromosomal episome and the normal 5'-3' organization is restored.
