Description

The P{MTW} construct contains sequence encoding a functional MtnA gene (includes transcribed sequence and flanking regions) plus a w+mC marker allele. Many insertions of this construct shows specific position-dependent expression patterns of the mini-w marker or the MtnA gene. Analysis of these insertions indicates that the construct can act as an enhancer trap and that it can also act as a reporter of silencers in the genome, which can affect the basal expression of the mini-w marker.
