Embryonic stage 6 expression is observed in the neurectoderm of the head, posterior to the tll stripe, with additional fainter expression anterior to native ems expression. At embryonic stage 9, expression is driven in the head, and overlaps anteriorly with the ocular/antennal neurectoderm region of native ems expression. At embryonic stage 15, expression is similar to that of native ems expression in the deuterocerebral and triterocerebral brain anlages; additionally, there is ectopic expression at the anterior tip of the protocerebral brain anlage
