P{PT1Δ} represents a transgenic construct generated in vivo by using FLP recombinase to excise both the FRT1 and the FRT2 cassettes from a P{PT1} element insertion. P{PT1Δ} contains (from 3' to 5') an artificial splice acceptor site, a single FRT2 site, the w+mC marker, UAS regulatory sequences, a single FRT1 site. P{PT1Δ} can act as a a mis-expression element, with the UAS sequences driving overexpression of downstream genomic sequence in the presence of a GAL4 driver.
