A conserved DNA sequence cluster from the vvl gene (length: 1128bp, conserved bases: 544bp) is fused upstream of a minimal Hsp70 promoter driving expression of the GAL4 open reading frame.

ScerGAL4vvl.14 activates expression in a subset of neuroblasts during late sub-lineage development. Expression is also driven in neurons whose bodies reside in the calyx of the adult mushroom body, and in a subset of neurons in the adult subesophageal ganglion.
