A conserved DNA sequence cluster from the cas gene (length: 2664bp, conserved bases: 1331bp) is fused upstream of a minimal Hsp70 promoter driving expression of the GAL4 open reading frame.

ScerGAL4cas.8 activates expression in a subset of neuroblasts during late sub-lineage development. Expression is also detected in a subset of neurons in the larval subesophageal ganglion. Expression is not detected at adult stage.
