Description

P{MARET-G4} is an enhancer trap construct that encodes a GAL4 driver. It is the same as P{GalW}, except that a loxP-S site has been inserted upstream and an attP site has been inserted downstream of the GAL4 enhancer trap cassette. The attP site acts as a target site that allows additional sequence to be inserted from an attB site-containing donor plasmid using phiC31:int integrase. The original GAL4 enhancer trap is retained, but if the newly inserted sequence contains a loxP site, it can subsequently be removed using P1cre recombinase, to complete the swap of the original GAL4 enhancer trap with the new sequence.
