The P{w3'.y+.attP} element acts as a landing site for integration of DNA into the genome at a defined location; the element contains an attP site, which acts as a target site for phiC31:int-mediated integration of any attB site-containing donor plasmid. The attP site is followed by a genomic DNA fragment of the w gene containing the last 205bp of intron 1 and the remaining downstream exons. Can be used in a 'split white' system, in which a functional w[+] gene is reconstituted only upon the correct site-specific integration event of a donor construct containing the promoter, exon 1 and the first 195 bp of intron 1 of the w+mC minigene.
