Description

UASp regulates expression of an osk transgene that lacks features required for osk localization and whose 3'UTR is substituted by the nos 3'UTR, which directs posterior localization and incorporation into pole cells. In addition, the start codons for both long and short osk protein are changed to arginines (from ATG to CGC) to make an untranslatable transcript.
