Negative control transgene. Contains a complete copy of the gypsy retrotransposon (flanked by P-element ends) with an EGFP cassette inserted in the antisense direction in the non-coding sequence of gypsy. The EGFP sequence contains a disruptive intron in which both splice acceptor and splice donor sites are mutated. Thus EGFP protein is not expressed, even after mobilization of the gypsy element in the transgene.
