Transgenic construct used to study the ability of the CTCF protein to independently form a functional insulator. Contains a mini-w reporter gene including the upstream eye enhancer. The eye enhancer is flanked by FRT sites. Sequence encoding four binding sites for CTCF has been inserted in between the eye enhancer and the w promoter. A loxP cassette containing four binding sites for CTCF has been inserted downstream of the w transcription unit.
