      Expression of EP1388EP1388 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 (the animals are initially raised at 18oC and then shifted to 29oC after 10 days) causes spermatogonia to continue mitotic proliferation at the expense of differentiation. In addition, small cells accumulate at the apical tip of the testis and these appear to occur single (characteristic of stem cells and gonialblasts) rather than in clusters (as occurs for spermatogonia in wild-type testes).
