Adults expressing iPLA2-VIAHMS01544 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tub.PU or Scer\GAL4DJ667 show a progressive decrease in climbing activity in both males and females. Adults expressing iPLA2-VIAHMS01544 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU show a progressive decrease in climbing activity only in males.

The expression of iPLA2-VIAHMS01544 under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav-C155 or Scer\GAL4da.G32 leads to adults exhibiting impaired locomotor behavior, as shown by a progressive and significant decrease in climbing capacity, as compared to controls. These adults also show a progressive accumulation of apoptotic cells in the brain, as compared to controls.

Ubiquitous expression of iPLA2-VIAHMS01544 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU is associated with an age-dependent decrease in climbing ability and shortened lifespan.

Expression of iPLA2-VIAHMS01544 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 results in a significant reduction in lifespan in flies compared with wild-type.
