The phenotype of flies containing T(2;4)E-1 heterozygous with an unrearranged wild-type chromosome is enhancement of bwD transinactivation. No association of 59E (now on the fourth chromosome) with the centric heterochromatin of 2Rh is apparent in interphase nuclei of larval central nervous system cells of flies containing the homozygous translocations.
Heterozygotes with Byron display reduced pigmentation compared to Byron/Dp(?;2)bwD or Byron/bw1 heterozygotes.
