Shows weak silencing of bw in trans despite strong silencing in cis. When transheterozygous with bw¹ ommatidia can show a bw⁺ phenotype. There is no significant difference in the frequency of somatic pairing of the bw region in third instar larval neuroblasts of Tp(2;2)bw-DX7/bw⁺, Dp(2;2)bw-DX7/bw⁺ or wild type.
