    Heterozygotes with bw+ are wild type and do not show bw inactivation. Heterozygotes with bw1 and bw2b do not show variegation. Heterozygotes with Df(2R)or-BR6 show bw inactivation. Heterozygotes with bw5 show weak trans-inactivation relative to heterozygotes with Df(2R)bw-DX7. Heterozygotes with Df(2R)egl2 show weak trans-inactivation relative to heterozygotes with Df(2R)bw-DX7. There is no significant difference in the frequency of somatic pairing of the bw region in third instar larval neuroblasts of Tp(2;2)bw-DX7/bw+, Dp(2;2)bw-DX7/bw+ or wild type.
