A set of isogenic deficiency stocks created by FLP-induced recombination between FRT-carrying transgenic insertions; molecularly defined deletion endpoints correspond to initial location of the progenitor insertions. Initial set of 519 isogenic deletions provides 56% genome coverage.
The current Exelixis collection at the Bloomington Stock Center differs from the original described in FBrf0175003 : a significant number were shown not to carry a deletion and have been removed from the collection; a number of stocks have been lost; a number of additional deletions are included that were generated after publication.

Mutants show embryonic lethality. Mutant embryos do not show any significant defects in segmentation or in the development of the peripheral nervous system. However, the mutant embryos show a striking tracheal phenotype at stage 16; the dorsal tracheal trunk is severely misshapen and appears like a string of sausages instead of the regular tube that is characteristic of wild-type embryos. The taenidial folds of the lumenal surface of the dorsal trunk are dramatically reduced compared to wild type and are irregular in the mutant embryos.
The gross organisation of the epithelial layer of the dorsal trunk is perturbed in homozygous mutant embryos, particularly at the junctions and the tracheal cells have a larger and rounder shape in the mutant embryos compared to wild type.
