Df(2L)CR45722-CR43839 homozygote males show severely reduced fertility compared to wild-type controls, display severe morphological defects in testes (accumulation of abnormal cotton-like flocculus in their distal part) and the sperm cells in their seminal vesicles are significantly smaller.

The investment cones of Df(2L)CR45722-CR43839 homozygous males are lagging and disorganized during the individualization step of spermatogenesis compared to wild-type.
