Detailed Description
Statement

cupΔ212/cup8 third instar larvae have significant increases in small extra satellite boutons (for example, budding from parent type 1b boutons) at the (muscle 4) neuromuscular junction (NMJ), compared to wild type or heterozygote controls.

Egg chambers arrest at stage S5.

Abnormalities in follicle cell migration: open ended chorion.

Nup15401501 cup8 double heterozygous females show no obvious defects in egg chamber development.

The size of the ovaries in cup8 homozygous adults is reduced by eIF-4E07238/+.

The oogenesis defects seen in hemizygous nos18 females are substantially suppressed by one copy of cup8. Many egg chambers in the rescued ovaries appear normal and mature into oocytes that are fertilised and oviposited (the resulting embryos develop no abdominal segments). The rescued females lay eggs for at least 3 weeks.
