Heterozygotes have deletions of anterior and posterior wing structures, including the medial costa, parts of the radius and the alar lobe. The sc25 and sc12 clusters of sensory organs are approximately halved in number and only one or two sc5s remain.

Exhibits a dominant wing hinge phenotype.

Lethal when heterozygous with D^r72 or D^r513. The wing phenotype of the dominant alleles is due to ectopic expression of D in the anlage of the hinge in the wing imaginal disc, as can be reproduced using a D^Scer\UAS.cSa driven by Scer\GAL4^30A or Scer\GAL4^zfh2-MS209.

Lethal in combination with point alleles of D and small deletions which only remove D sequences.

D⁴/ey^D heterozygotes are viable, unlike dominant late pupal lethal interaction of D¹ with ey^D. Wings held out at 90^o, shorter than wild type and rounder, alulae and adjacent wing tissue is missing, halteres are held down and the presutral bristles are missing.
