Heterozygotes have deletions of anterior and posterior wing structures, including the medial costa, parts of the radius and the alar lobe. The sc25 and sc12 clusters of sensory organs are approximately halved in number and only one or two sc5s remain.
Exhibits a dominant wing hinge phenotype.
Lethal in combination with point alleles of D and small deletions which only remove D sequences.
D4/eyD heterozygotes are viable, unlike dominant late pupal lethal interaction of D1 with eyD. Wings held out at 90o, shorter than wild type and rounder, alulae and adjacent wing tissue is missing, halteres are held down and the presutral bristles are missing.
