Females heterozygous for dl²⁵ and a deficiency for dl produce 100% strongly dorsalised embryos. Females heterozygous for dl²⁵ and dl⁺ produce 100% weakly dorsalised embryos. Females heterozygous for dl²⁵ and dl⁺ but carrying an additional copy of dl⁺ carried in P{dl^hs.P} produce 100% weakly dorsalised embryos of which 75% hatch.

Embryos derived from heterozygous females have a range of phenotypes, from a disarranged head skeleton to a "tail-up" phenotype.
