dlg11 mutant embryos show normal cardiac cell alignment.

Although discs grow like tumours a large portion of the cells retain properties derived from their epithelial origin: monolayers form in which apical basal polarity is a prominent characteristic, secrete large amounts basement membrane material. Cellular rosette structures are present that have lost the epithelial properties of close contact and polarity.

dlg11/dlg12 lethal at 18oC
