Myoblasts are present, migrate normally and get distributed over the persistent thoracic larval muscles in animals expressing ewgelav.NS in an ewg11 background, but splitting of the persistent larval muscles does not occur in some genetic backgrounds. Fusion of the imaginal myoblasts with the larval muscles occurs normally, but the wild-type progressive alignment of fused myoblast nuclei into longitudinal columns does not occur in these animals.
Lethality occurs during early embryo and larval stages. There are occasional adult escapers.
ewg11 is rescued by ewgSC3ORF.elav
Lethality can be rescued by ewgelav.NS. Rescued adults do not exhibit an erect wing phenotype.
