      yrt87Ek-8/yrt87Ek-9 embryos have head defects and dorsal posterior holes in the cuticle. yrt87Ek-8/Df(3R)l26c embryos often have a "tail-up" phenotype characteristic of a failure to complete germ-band retraction. They have head defects and dorsal posterior holes in the cuticle. Stage 13-14 yrt87Ek-8 embryos have herniated Malpighian tubules, posterior hindgut and sometimes midgut. The amnioserosa is missing.
