Reference

lz^rfg adults have a "spectacle" eye phenotype. Ectopic cell death is seen in third larval instar eye discs.

'spectacle' eye phenotype. Transheterozygotes with lz^gal4 show roughening of the posterior edge of the compound eye.

Homozygotes have a total lack of ommatidial structure in the eye. Pigment is dispersed as a ring around the edge of the eye ("spectacle" phenotype).

Hemizygous males lack prophenoloxidase activity. Larvae have no crystal cells. Eggs of the parasitoid strain L.boulardi are encapsulated by host haemocytes but the cellular capsules do not melanize and harden.
