A 30 minute treatment of mutant brains with either colchicine or taxol followed by a 5 minute hypotonic shock induces premature sister chromatid separation (PSCS) in a significant fraction (20-30%) of mitotic cells, in contrast to wild type, where less than 1% of cells show PSCS under these conditions.
