prothoracic tarsal segment 2 & sex comb

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Approximately 70% of scd1/Y males have a small distal sex comb (containing two teeth on average) on the second tarsal segment of the prothoracic leg.

Exhibits 1-2 sex comb teeth on the second tarsal segment of the prothoracic leg in hemizygous males. Homozygous females viable and fertile. Interacts with Sco in that scd;Sco/+ males have reduced viability and lack many bristles, including many of the sex comb teeth on the first tarsal segment of the prothoracic leg. Resembles description of rare Sco homozygotes.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The sex comb phenotype of scd1/Y males is enhanced by Dp(3;Y)Antp+; the penetrance of the phenotype is increased to 100%, and the number of ectopic sex comb teeth is increased to approximately four. A similar enhancement of the phenotype is also caused by Dp(3;3)M86D+2 or Gap1sxt-BJ61. scd1/Y Scr4/+ males lack the small distal sex comb, but the sex comb on the first tarsal segment of the leg contains more teeth than the sex comb of Scr4/+ heterozygous males.
