Detailed Description

Heterozygous and Scr5/Df(3R)WIN3 males have no sex comb bristles on the prothoracic leg.

The number of nuclei in the salivary glands of Scr5/Df(3R)WIN3 larvae is not significantly different from normal.

Scr5/Df(3R)WIN3 and Scr5/Scr13A flies have a reduced number of rows of pseudotrachea on the proboscis compared to controls.

Prothoracic to mesothoracic, pronotal to mesonotal and labial to maxillary transformations. Polyphasic semi-lethality.

pb1 Scr5/pb5 Scr4 flies show transformation of the proboscis into the antenna. The transformation varies from thick and shortened aristae with claws and pulvillae to apparently complete antennae with aristae, third and second antennal segments bearing characteristic bristles.
