Heterozygotes with slp1Δ46G are lethal, one copy of the construct P{HS-slp1} can rescue individuals to adulthood.

P{lArB}A208.1M2 is viable over slp13 and P{lArB}slp1A509 is lethal. Homozygotes display a weak cuticle phenotype affecting the odd numbered segments. Structures of the cephalopharyngeal skeleton are missing.

Does not interact with RpII140wimp maternal effect.

slp13 suppresses the polarity reversal aspect of the odd1 phenotype in double homozygotes.

Phenotypic analysis of different slp1 and slp2 alleles establishes an allelic series: slp11 < slp1Δ41E < slp1A509 < slp13 < slp1Δ46G < slp2Δ66C < slp1Δ34B = slp2Δ34B.
